Open the Apple menu and choose About This Mac. If it says Apple M1, M2, M3, M4 or newer, choose Mac: Apple chip. If it says Intel, choose Mac: Intel.
Having trouble opening RustDesk?
- Open your Downloads folder.
- Double-click the RustDesk file you just downloaded.
- If your computer asks for its password, type it yourself and never read it aloud.
- Read the RustDesk ID and one-time password only to the Computer Assist technician you are speaking with.
Only if your technician tells you to use Google
Stay with RustDesk unless your Computer Assist technician specifically directs you here. Chrome Remote Desktop requires you to sign in with a Google account. Open Google Remote Support, stay under Get Support, download and install the support component if asked, then return to the page and choose Generate Code. Do not choose the separate permanent Remote Access option.
The one-time support code works once. Confirm the helper's email address, choose Share, and use Stop Sharing to disconnect. Google asks every 30 minutes whether sharing should continue. Removal steps differ for Windows and Mac.
Safety information
- Only continue while speaking with Computer Assist.
- Close private documents before connecting.
- Do not email it, leave it in voicemail or enter it into the Computer Assist website.
- You type your own passwords. Computer Assist will not ask you to read them aloud.
- No permanent or unattended access is enabled by default.
